Errors

Failed to set data for error and registration problems

Make sure you to this before registering/purchasing but ultimately you will need do this if you registered without applying this fix first and GM goes from pro to lite. Do not apply if you are registered and the registration sticks and you have the data error still, you may break things then.

Follow the steps below:

• Right click the gmaker7 setup and click run as administrator when installing.
• Righ click the GM Icon on desktop, click properties. Click Shortcut, Click Open File Location. It's a quick way to get to the installation folder...
• Right click Game_Maker application, click properties, Click compatibility, Check the Run this program as an administrator box...

Do the same for all other exes that may be there, At this point there is only the uninstall.

Games Freezing on Windows Vista

This is if the games freeze when you press play. Update DirectX 9 on your computer.

• Note: though Windows Vista has the latest version of DirectX (DirectX 10), DirectX 9 must be updated and installed on Windows Vista. It will not downgrade your version of DirectX, but instead update an additional legacy version of DirectX existing for compatibility purposes (See DirectX 9.0L).

Reboot your machine afterwards.

Softwrap File Error 3

(To fix this problem, please follow the steps below.

1. Navigate to this directory on your computer: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\
2. Right click the folder Documents
3. Select Sharing and Security
4. Under the section Network sharing and security, place a check mark in the box next to Share this folder on the network.
5. Apply changes. If at this point you get an error, repeat steps 4 and 5 again. (You'll notice that Documents folder has changed to Shared Documents)
6. Game Maker 7 should now run as normal.

Note: After you have ran Game Maker 7 at least once, you should be able to reverse this process and still continue to use Game Maker 7 as normal. For further information read here.
